How to use this calculator
- Enter basic salary, dearness allowance, HRA received, rent paid and the city of residence.
- Choose the city category and the period for which you claim to match your situation.
- Read the exempt HRA, the taxable HRA and which limit applied in the result.
HRA relief is available only under the old regime and needs rent receipts; the landlord PAN is needed for large rent.
The result is an estimate for the figures you enter. It is not a filed return, a certificate or professional advice. Rates, thresholds and section numbers change with each Finance Act, and the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies from 1 April 2026 with new section and form numbers.
