How to use this calculator
- Enter the lump-sum consideration, the net worth of the undertaking and the date of the business start.
- Choose the holding period of the undertaking to match your situation.
- Read the net worth, the capital gain and its short-term or long-term nature in the result.
Net worth follows a prescribed method and needs a certificate from an accountant; do not use rough accounting values.
The result is an estimate for the figures you enter. It is not a filed return, a certificate or professional advice. Rates, thresholds and section numbers change with each Finance Act, and the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies from 1 April 2026 with new section and form numbers.
