How to use this calculator
- Enter the asset type, purchase and sale dates, cost and sale value.
- Choose the asset class and the tax year to match your situation.
- Read the holding period, the gain or loss and the tax at the applicable rate in the result.
Rates and holding periods differ by asset class; check that you picked the correct class before relying on the result.
The result is an estimate for the figures you enter. It is not a filed return, a certificate or professional advice. Rates, thresholds and section numbers change with each Finance Act, and the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies from 1 April 2026 with new section and form numbers.
